Installing HAVEN requires different tools based on your type of flooring. For a hardwood only install, you can use the install screws included in the box. You will need a power drill and a steel drill bit. You should have a measuring tape and pencil to mark the floor and door where needed. Hardwood installation should not take longer than 20-40 minutes with the proper tools.. If you have concrete or tile flooring, you will need a masonry drill bit and concrete screws (we recommend Tapcon masonry screws). Access our installation guide at the link below for complete details on installing HAVEN.

You don’t need screws with the 3M VHB tape option, but we recommend installing at least 1 screw in the install hole closest to the side of the door knob. Every screw you add increases the strength of the tape by 2x. Simply remove the top cover, drill a pilot hole if necessary, and use a screw provided in the box your HAVEN came in (or purchase concrete screws and use a masonry drill bit if drilling into concrete).

The HAVEN VHB tape is an option for installation on flooring with a hard, flat surface like tile or concrete. HAVEN with the VHB tape option is 2x stronger than your deadbolt depending on floor type. See our videos page for VHB strength testing videos. We highly recommend having at least one anchor screw in combination with the tape for optimal strength.

We recommend allowing the tape application at least 72 hours to cure before it reaches full strength. Make sure the floor is free from dust, debris, wax and is dry.

Secondly, installing a kick plate directly above your HAVEN, so there is no gap, reduces the amount of foreign debris and objects that can affect the product. Additionally, if you have an adjustable threshold, raising that to its maximum usable height is also advised. You can find our recommendation for a kick plate here.
How do I remove HAVEN?
HAVEN can be easily removed using a drill to remove the screws. If you used any tape during the install that can be removed using a solvent to dissolve the tape residue.

HAVEN Connect won't lock/unlock
If your HAVEN Connect does not lock properly when you press \"Lock\" on the smartphone app or key fob, then there may be an issue with the nylon strap or servo motor. If the lock attempts to lock and then drops down, there are two possible solutions: 1.) Nylon Strap — Make sure your nylon strap is not bunched up within the unit. Manually open the locking gate and pull/tug on the open gate to stretch or flex the nylon straps. They could be kinked up in the gate or one strap could be too tight and need to be loosened. You can also take off the gate cover and pull the straps with your fingers. This usually evens out the nylon and allows the servo motor to reach its locked position. Check out the video link for more information: 2.) Loosen Screws — Sometimes if the screw closest to the servo (the left side of the unit when it is facing the door) is overtightened, the servo can fail to lift when you attempt to lock it via the smartphone app or key fob. Try loosening this screw a bit and then try to lock the unit via the app or key fob. This may allow the servo to fully lift the gate.

Hub and Fob FAQ
Is Alexa Integration free with the Gateway Hub?
Yes, the Alexa integration is free and applied using the Alexa app.
Is the Gateway Hub required for Attack Detection and tamper alerts?
The Havenlock firmware is responsible for detection. The Gateway Hub is responsible for reporting the event. Users who don\'t have a Gateway Hub won\'t be informed in a timely manner of a potential attack. Those users won\'t get the push notification and email until the next time that they open the lock dashboard in the app. Opening the lock dashboard creates a Bluetooth connection with the lock, and the app will receive the intruder detection event and send it to the server. During testing, if you have the lock dashboard open at the time that you attack the lock, you will see the push notification and email shortly after the 10 second beep. In those cases, use the 3rd party Z-Wave Hub to create a connection between Alexa and your connected HAVEN Connect Z.
Can I add my Haven Lock to new or existing “Routines”?
The HAVEN Skill places your HAVEN Lock into the device list as a smart lock. This means that you will be able to do all the same things you are used to with any other device - including creating routines for HAVEN Connect.
Why does it take so long for Alexa to confirm Haven is locked or unlocked?
In most cases, you will find that your lock responds quickly to your commands. However, it sometimes takes 5-30 seconds for the system to confirm that the command is complete. This is due to a network round trip, that double checks the state of the lock and updates all other systems and devices of the new state of the lock. Once complete, Alexa will confirm that the new state is double-checked and verified.

I’ve heard people can yell from outside the home or apartment through a window and tell smart locks to unlock?

Do I have to have the Haven mobile App for this skill to work?
You will need the Haven mobile App (iOS and Android) to configure HAVEN Connect and connect the HAVEN Hub. However, if you delete this app for some reason, your account still exists. Alexa will still be connected to this account, and your Alexa integration will continue to function.
Does the email I use for logging into Alexa/Amazon need to match my HAVEN Account email?
No, these two accounts are completely separate. The primary purpose of the skill is to create a soft link between the accounts so they can communicate. There is no need for the two accounts to match usernames or passwords.
What account should I use for Linking?
Once you enable the skill, you’ll be asked to link your HAVEN Account to Alexa. During the linking process you must supply your Haven account username and password - not your Amazon or Alexa login credentials.
What if I add a new lock but it won’t get discovered or added to my device list?
Disable and Re-enable the skill. This will kick off a re-linking of your HAVEN account. During the linking process, make sure that the checkbox for the new device is checked when you are asked to “Authorize Integration.” Once discovery is performed again, the new device should appear.
What if no devices appear during linking at the “Authorize Integration” step?
Use the HAVEN mobile application to make sure you can remote control the device via the internet connection and that you have a Havenlock Hub Device connected and configured. You will need to disable and re-enable the skill after you’ve successfully tested with the mobile app with the HAVEN mobile application.
What if I can’t login to the Haven lock registration dialog?
Double check that you are the correct credentials for Havenlock and not Alexa/Amazon. Double check that you have all of the compatible hardware. Use the HAVEN mobile application to make sure you have the right username and password and correctly configured hardware. If needed you can use the “Forgot password” link to reset. If you still have difficulty accessing the login page, please contact support.
I want to be able to say “Lock Front Door” instead of “Lock Haven Lock”'
The name of your device is how you can refer to the device. We suggest calling your lock by the door it\'s locking instead of something generic like Haven Lock. This way you can say “Lock the Side Door” or “Unlock the Front door”.
